The Ronald McDonald Family Room extends the mission of Ronald McDonald House within the walls of Children's Hospital - Health Sciences Centre Winnipeg.
Open in spring 2010, the space is a place of respite and comfort for families with children who are patients at Children's Hospital and need to take a break from the hospital environment. The Family Room features a large living space with a TV, children's play area, laundry facilities, computer and internet access, bathroom with a shower, and a full kitchen. To date, the 3000 square foot Family Room in Winnipeg is the largest in the world.
The Family Room common area is open seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. for anyone with a patient at Children's Hospital for any reason. No referral is needed to come relax with other families.
Three sleeping rooms are available on a priority basis to families in PICU, NICU, and other areas of Children's Hospital if space permits. Rooms are signed out on a nightly basis and are reserved for families with the most critical need. There is no charge to use the sleeping rooms.
There are volunteers to run the program from 9am-9pm daily.
Located within Children's Hospital just a short walk from PICU and NICU, the Ronald McDonald Family Room is one more way we're helping to keep families together.
